Khan says Pickens has a 'desire to be great' in Pittsburgh

Steelers General Manager Omar Khan spoke publicly for the first time since the beginning of last season at the NFL Combine on Tuesday.

Khan covered many topics, including the status of one of their best offensive players, wide receiver George Pickens.

He was asked about the plans the Steelers have for Pickens, going into the last year of his rookie deal.

"I had a really solid exit meeting with 'G.P.' and I can tell you that he has a desire to be great," said Khan. "He has a desire to be great here. We have a desire for him to be great and to be great here. With respect to the contract, we won't discuss that publicly, and usually those things are addressed at a later date."

That's encouraging news for those that want to see the wildly talented Pickens get a second contract.

But, the 23-year-old is mercurial on the field.

His apparent lack of effort on some plays is evident at time. Then the next play, he will make a spectacular catch.

He's also been seen arguing with fans, and according to a report was over a half hour late to a game last season.
