New artifacts include Franco Harris’ high school jersey, 1972 Offensive Rookie of the Year trophy and the football itself, used in what is known to many as the most famous football in NFL history.

The items will be added to the “Super Steelers exhibit”.

Jim Baker and his nephew were two of dozen who jumped on the ball after it was kicked through the uprights for an extra point and walked away with a piece of history, worth far more to him than any money he’s ever been offered.

“The money, you know it sounds great and then you put it in your pocket and then you spend the money, but I have something special,” said Baker.

Baker keeps the ball in a vault but brings it out for special occasions and charity events.

Harris himself was on hand for the event.

“I just feel so glad that I can still get a thrill and a chill out of it and to know it happened 50 years ago we’re still celebrating it, I’m able to still celebrate it and how so many people connect to it,” said Harris.

The exhibit will be on display beginning Wednesday, November 9 through early 2024.
