KDKA Radio 2023-2024 Super 7 Basketball Finalists

An exciting season of WPIAL and City League basketball came to a conclusion with four new PIAA champions from the region — Blackhawk girls and Imani Christian, Aliquippa and Lincoln Park boys.

Those four teams are all represented in the finalists for the prestigious KDKA Super 7 Awards.

One award winner will be chosen from the three finalists in each WPIAL classification and Pittsburgh City League.

Below are the finalists for the 2023-2024 KDKA Radio Super 7 Basketball Awards:

WPIAL 6A Boys
Joey Dopirak, North Allegheny - Dickinson College commit who scored over 20 points per game for Class 6A’s No. 2 seed.
Tyler Robbins, Upper St. Clair - Averaged over 13 points, 11 rebounds per game and was Class 6A’s top shot blocker while winning WPIAL title.
Nate Wesling, Baldwin - Led Highlanders to historic season and WPIAL final appearance while scoring 15.6 points per game.

WPIAL 5A Boys
Elijah Guillory, Moon - Youngstown State recruit who won WPIAL title and averaged around 20 points per game.
Cam Rowell, Frankin Regional - Scored over 18 points per game as Panthers reached WPIAL and PIAA finals.
Evan Berger, Thomas Jefferson - Jaguars’ all-time leading scorer who averaged 17 points per game for WPIAL semifinalist.

WPIAL 4A Boys
Meleek Thomas, Lincoln Park - One of WPIAL’s top recruits of all-time, Thomas scored 22 points per game, winning WPIAL and PIAA titles.
Brandin Cummings, Lincoln Park - Pitt commit who averaged over 23 points per game to cap a decorated career.
Peter Kramer, Hampton - Lehigh commit who averaged over 23 points per game, reaching WPIAL final and PIAA semifinals.

WPIAL 3A Boys
Joseph Roth, Ellwood City - One of the region’s best dual sport athletes, the accomplished swimmer led Ellwood City to the PIAA 2nd round while scoring 25.6 points per game.
Billy Schaeffer, Deer Lakes - Claimed a second straight WPIAL title while averaging 17.5 points per game for the Lancers.
Terek Crosby, Yough - 2,000-point scorer who powered the Cougars to a section title while finishing second in the WPIAL in scoring at 25.8 points per.

WPIAL 2A Boys
Josh Pratt, Aliquippa - Averaged 16 points per game, but saved his best for championship games, with 33 points in the WPIAL and 36 in the PIAA title games.
Tyree Turner, Greensburg Central Catholic - Posted nearly 22 points per game as the Centurions reached the WPIAL finals.
Cam Lindsey, Aliquippa - Pitt football recruit who muscled his way to 15 points per game, WPIAL and PIAA championship victories.

WPIAL 1A Boys
Lorenzo Gardner, Monessen - The WPIAL’s fifth-leading scorer at over 25 points per game, Gardner led the Greyhounds to a 20-win season.
Nate Brazil, Imani Christian - Division I recruit who led the WPIAL and PIAA champion Saints with 18.7 points per game
Courtney Wallace, Neighborhood Academy - Yale commit who nearly averaged a triple double at over 24 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists per game for the 1A runner-ups.

City League Boys
Titus Gillett, Brashear - Led the City League in scoring at 24.5 points per game as the Bulls reached the district semifinals.
Logan Golle, Allderdice - Racked up over 21 points per game and hit 51 3-pointers for the City League champions.
Torrien Perkins, Obama Academy - Posted over 18 points per game for the City League’s runner-up.

WPIAL 6A Girls
Lauren Palangio, Norwin - A Holy Family recruit who scored nearly 14 points per game to guide the Knights to a WPIAL title.
Natalie Wetzel, Peters Township - Division I recruit who scored over 17 points per game, as the Indians finished 24-3.
Madison Zavasky, Pine-Richland - 1,000 point scorer committed to IUP who averaged over 19 points per game.

WPIAL 5A Girls
Emma Paul, Armstrong - Dynamic scorer who dropped in 22 points per game as Armstrong reached the WPIAL finals for the first time.
London Creach, Oakland Catholic - Paced the Eagles to an unbeaten regular season while scoring 15 points per game before an injury in the postseason.
Meghan Murray, Hampton - The Kent State recruit led the classification with 22 points per game, breaking Hampton's all-time scoring record.

WPIAL 4A Girls 
Alayna Rocco, North Catholic - Harvard commit who guided the Trojanettes to another WPIAL title by scoring 19.1 points per game and finishing with over 1,700 career points.
Alena Fusetti, Blackhawk - Mercyhurst commit who averaged over 16 points per game, as the Cougars won 27 games and the 4A PIAA title.
Oumou Thiero, Quaker Valley - A 6-foot-4 force, Thiero took a large step as a sophomore, scoring 19.5 points per game.

WPIAL 3A Girls
Mallory Daly, Seton LaSalle - Buffalo recruit who broke Suzie McConnell-Serio’s school scoring record and averaged 23.9 points and 11.4 rebounds.
Maggie Spell, Shady Side Academy - As just a sophomore, Spell racked up 19.7 points per game as the Bulldogs won the Class 3A WPIAL title.
Rebecca Goetz, Avonworth - The senior scored nearly 15 points per game to help the Antelopes reach The Pete and PIAA quarterfinals.

WPIAL 2A Girls 
Iyanna Wade, Clairton - The WPIAL’s leading scorer at 40.3 points per game, the junior helped the Bears to 20 wins.
Erica Gribble, Greensburg Central Catholic - The leading force on the WPIAL championship winning Centurions, the Division I recruit finished her sophomore year scoring 20.3 points per.
Shaye Bailey, Freedom - Bounced back after a season-ending injury in 2023 to score 23.4 points per game for the Bulldogs.

WPIAL 1A Girls
Emma Larkin, Geibel Catholic - As a sophomore, posted 29.8 points per game to help Geibel reach the WPIAL playoffs.
Julie Spinelli, St. Joseph - Frostburg State commit who ran up 21.1 point per as the Spartans reached the PIAA postseason.
Kelly Cleaver, Union - Millersville commit who helped lead the Scotties to another WPIAL title while scoring over 16 points per game.

City League Girls 
Bailey White, Allderdice - As just a sophomore, White led the City League in scoring at 19.4 points per game, guiding the Dragons to the district title.
Taylor Phillips, Obama Academy - Led the Eagles in scoring at 18.0 points per before falling in the City League title game.
Peyton Lynch, Allderdice - Another young gun in the Dragons’ backcourt, Lynch scored 15.2 points for the champions.
