Throughout the 2021-2022 high school basketball season, KDKA Radio will recognize some of the top boys and girls basketball players from the WPIAL and Pittsburgh City League.

This week, we recognize the district's leading boys scorer, the top performer from the KDKA Radio Game of the Week, and two girls players who are having exceptional seasons at top programs.

In a game you heard on KDKA Radio, Yofan survived an injury scare and returned to emphatically clinch the Section 3-6A title for the Foxes in a 75-65 win at Central Catholic.

The senior, who is scoring over 20 points per game this year, had to leave the game during the third quarter due to a knee injury, but returned to drop in 21 points.

His biggest moment of the night came with seven seconds to go, when he brought the Fox Chapel faithful to their feet with a thunderous dunk to ice the win.

Fox Chapel's all-time leading scorer, Yofan has Division I offers from Army and Navy.

Alayna Rocco, North Catholic

Rocco is the second North Catholic player to appear on the KDKA Radio Watch List this season, joining teammate Dacia Lewandowski on the list.

On Saturday, the sophomore poured in 18 points to help beat Class 6A school Seneca Valley, 53-49.

Rocco, whose father Jim is a long time WPIAL basketball coach, is scoring over 17 points per game this season.

Vinnie Cugini, Aquinas Academy

No one in the WPIAL has put the ball through the net more than Cugini.

The Aquinas junior leads the WPIAL in scoring at over 35 points per game.

A 6-foot-2 guard, Cugini hit the 2,000 career point mark in just his 55th high school game.

Last year, he scored nearly 40 points per game and averaged over 34 per as a freshman.

Cugini, who has an offer from Pitt Johnstown, is on pace to become the WPIAL's all-time leading scorer next season.

Perri Page, Chartiers Valley

Page, a senior, is part of the Fantastic Five at Chartiers Valley, and is having a strong final high school season for the area's top high school girls program.

On Saturday, she scored 25 points in a 59-27 non-section win over Thomas Jefferson.

So far this season, Page is averaging 16 points per game for the Colts, which have won 16 consecutive games and feature a starting five all committed to play in college.
