The Steelers starting outside linebackers are both in concussion protocol.
Head Coach Mike Tomlin said both T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith are both in the protocol to start the week.
Watt took a knee to the face. Tomlin says Watt was then evaluated for a concussion and was allowed to re-enter the game.
What was strange is that Watt came back in with a visor on his helmet with a darker tint.
That led many fans online to speculate about letting Watt come back in to play with a tinted visor.
During his weekly news conference on Monday, Tomlin said he “wasn’t aware” of the change.
Paul Zeise says he doesn’t know why for sure he changed visors but speculates his eyes may have been sensitive to light, a concussion symptom.
Watt came in on Friday, the morning after the game and said he was having headaches, another symptom.
Zeise doesn’t believe Tomlin is telling the truth.
“I’m not going to tell the doctors what they’re supposed to do and what they’re not supposed to do, but I can live without coaches flat out insulting our intelligence,” said Zeise. “We’re supposed to believe that Mike Tomlin had no idea his best player changed the facemask and had a tinted facemask on for the second half of the game.”
Zeise says he understands if a coach doesn’t want to provide information, but don’t come out an lie to the media and public.
