Major national Tomlin defender warms to idea of trading him

One of Mike Tomlin’s biggest national defenders is warming up to the idea of the Steelers coach moving onto another team.

Rich Eisen recently said on his show, streaming on Disney+, that “I wouldn’t be surprised if the Steelers finally say ‘let’s figure something out’ and then Tomlin shows up somewhere else.”

This comes after the New York Giants announced the firing of their coach Brian Daboll.

“There’s a guy that’s definitely changed his tune on Mike Tomlin,” said Joe Starkey on Tuesday.

On the Pomp & Joe Show, Starkey added that Eisen, not that long ago, was essentially telling Steelers fans how good they had it with Tomlin as their coach.

But after nearly a decade with no playoff wins and recently, three bad primetime losses, the national media is starting to see what the Steelers really are.

As it’s been said many times, Tomlin is a great coach and the Steelers are a great organization, but the time has come, according to many, for the two to split.

With Art Rooney II at the helm for the Steelers, it seems extremely unlikely that anytime of trade that would send Tomlin to another team would ever happen.

But “people are starting to walk up to the reality here” that the Steelers don’t win big games anymore.

“This is the longest playoff drought since (Head Coach) Bill Austin was here, before Chuck Noll” said Starkey.

If this season continues the way it does, with another mediocre 9-8, or similar record and another first-round playoff loss, expect those voice from the national media to continue to mirror what Steelers fans having been saying for a long time locally.
