PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers head coach Mike McCarthy said Wednesday there is confidence in the NFL’s safety plan and its business as usual, or as much as it can be for an NFL team having to travel nine hours to play in Paris Sunday.
The team is leaving on Thursday evening, practicing in Pittsburgh on Wednesday and Thursday before a charter to France.
“Traveling is stressful whether you are going to Tampa or going across the Atlantic,” McCarthy said. “Those are the things I’m in touch with, just make sure we are making this as smooth and as safe as we possibly can. They have confidence in our plan. We are doing the little things to prepare.”
McCarthy stressed it’s been a lot of planning, a lot of extra conversations. He said he knows what is surrounding the game. Likely indirectly referring to planned protests on Saturday amid the on-going unrest in parts of Paris and France overall.
But there is more to it, as least from his standpoint leading up to Sunday’s game.
“The most important thing for us professionally is to go over there and come back 5-2,” McCarthy said.
Professionally the most important thing for him is to come back 5-2
