Former Steelers quarterback Josh Dobbs arrived in Minnesota after a trade with Arizona less than a week ago.
Vikings rookie quarterback Jaren Hall left the game with a concussion and Dobbs, with zero preparation, came into the game and led the Vikings to a comeback win.
Dobbs didn’t get any snaps during practice week and had to take snaps on the sidelines from the center so they could learn the cadence.
He didn’t know most of his teammates names and didn’t know the playbook, he had to rely on the Vikings head coach to explain what each play was, followed by the player telling him where he was going to be.
Dobbs went 20 for 30 with 158 yards and two touchdowns.
He also ran the ball seven times for 66 yards and a touchdown.
After Dobbs surprising performance, some Steelers fans took to Twitter/X to say they would prefer to have the rocket scientist over Kenny Pickett, wondering if they let one get away.
“Josh Dobbs, there’s a pretty compelling argument to be made, has played twice as many good games as Kenny Pickett has,” said Chris Mueller on The PM Team Monday.
Mueller says that most of them came in losses for Dobbs, but says he’s been good in four games, and Pickett has had a good four quarter game all season with a few late game comebacks.
“If you asked me right now, the Steelers have a game (Sunday) who gives them a better chance to win, Id’ rather have Josh Dobbs, absolutely,” said Mueller.
He points out to Dobb’s mobility, ability to quickly pick up an offense and can make enough throws to win.
