Pittsburgh Pirates fans know all too well how a hot start in Spring Training can quickly turned into a nightmare.
But forget about all that, because Oneil Cruz is launching balls into orbit down in Florida.
The Pirates short stop went 3-for-4 on Monday against the Philadelphia Phillies with two home runs.
Cruz’s first homer of the day, a three-run, came in the third inning. The ball went 419 feet to right center.
In the top of the 5th, Cruz tied the Spring Training lead for homers with another one to right center field.
Cruz is now batting .355 this spring with 14 RBI to go with his seven home runs.
After missing almost the entire season with a fractured legs, Cruz looks primed to have a breakout year in 2024.
