With a new alliance between the ACC/Big Ten/PAC-12 and the possibility of working together on schedules, there are hopes that a Pitt/Penn State rivalry could once again be renewed.
Pitt quarterback and Fan Ambassador Kenny Pickett thinks it should happen.
“I think it’s a great game, two passionate fan bases,” said Pickett.
Pickett says he was in attendance in 2016 at Heinz Field and was on the sidelines for the next year and played in the last two years of the renewed Keystone Classic.
“It’s different when it’s a rivalry game, I think that game along with the West Virginia one would be great to have pretty much every year,” said Pickett.
While he has never played against West Virginia, he recognizes that the Backyard Brawl is one of the best rivalries in college football.
There is a chance that could be happening again as well, with the Big 12 in trouble, WVU could try and move to the ACC. That conference makes the most sense for the Mountaineers.
“You should give what the fans, what the schools want to go see so hopefully they get back on that schedule here soon,” added Pickett.
