Pirates announce 2027 schedule: open at PNC Park

The Pirates are currently battling for a playoff spot in 2026, but the schedule for 2027 is already out.

If the owners and players are able to avoid a work stoppage, the Pirates will open the 2027 season at PNC Park for the first time in over a decade and the earliest date in history, Thursday, March 25.

They’ll welcome the Athletics for a three-game series March 25-27 before a rare Sunday off. That is followed by three games in Cincinnati before the Bucs return home for games against the Padres and Yankees early in the season.

The Pirates haven’t had a true Opening Day since 2016 when Francisco Liriano got the win for the Pirates in a 4-1 victory against the Cardinals.

Other notable schedule notes:

Pirates will close the season on the road with 3 at the Mets and 3 at the Cardinals, which could be a playoff battle

All 3 holidays are on the road

Memorial Day at St. Louis

4th of July at Miami

Labor Day at Arizona

Longest homestand right at the time Steelers camp will likely start, July 23-August 1---Arizona, Atlanta, Mets

Four homestands with an off-day in the middle

Easy road trip for traveling Bucs fans —Pirates play August 3-5 at Washington and then 6-8 at Baltimore

The last Pirates games at home against the Reds is August 9-11.

April 30-May 6: A seven-game homestand with the Washington Nationals and Chicago Cubs.

June 22-27: A six-game homestand against the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies.

July 6-11: A six-game homestand with the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami Marlins.

July 23-August 1: A season-long, 10-game homestand against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves and New York Mets.

September 14-19: A six-game homestand with the St. Louis Cardinals and Cleveland Guardians.
