A Pirates/Andrew McCutchen reunion makes too much sense.
The former MVP's club option was not picked up by the Philadelphia Phillies, making him a free agent.
While it would likely cost somewhere in the $10 million neighborhood to bring him back and maybe the biggest hurdle is his willingness to come here.
But, if the Pirates give him a chance to play right field often, and he proves he can still go, the could trade him to a contender before the trade deadline.
McCutchen and his family still have a home in the area and at 35-years-old, he would be closer to his wife and three children.
Bringing McCutchen back would also be a huge olive branch to a fan base that has been disappointed the past few seasons, with the team having the worst record in the 2020 shortened season and losing over 100 games this past season.
