Pirates new all-black uniform combo is elite!

It was a good weekend for the Pirates to begin the second half of the season. They took 2-out-of-3 games from the Philadelphia Phillies.

After their six-game winning streak was snapped on Sunday, the Pirates are now one game over .500 at 50-49 and are 7 games out of first place in the N.L. Central, two back of the St. Louis Cardinals (the Pirates next opponent).

In the Wild Card race, the Pirates are currently (as of Monday afternoon) only a half game out of the third spot.

It’s an exciting time to be a Pittsburgh Pirates fan and while a chasing a playoff spot is thrilling, let’s talk about what’s really important…team uniforms!

On Saturday, the Pirates wore all black uniforms that looked amazing on the field. I had never seen the combination before.

It was the black alternate jersey with the “Pittsburgh” script, black pants with a thin gold stripe on the side and their pre-game hats that pay homage to the pillbox Stargell Stars hats of the late 1970s.

Is it a coincidence the Pirates beat their cross-state rivals 4-1 on Saturday? I think not.
