The Pirates have made a deal with the Milwaukee Brewers for a catcher in the Dominican Republic Summer League.
Right-handed pitcher Jandel Gustave and outfielder Troy Stokes. Jr. to Milwaukee in exchange for 17-year-old Venezuelan Samuel Escudero.
Escudero has been assigned to the Pirates Dominican Summer League.
Stokes Jr. played in eight games for the Pirates at the Major League level batting .111 with two hits and two RBI in 20 plate appearances.
In Indianapolis, Stokes Jr. played in 29 games with a .169 average12 hits and five RBI in 84 plate appearances.
Gustave, who has not played this season, has a career ERA of 3.43.
