On Monday, Steelers Super Bowl Champion Bryant McFadden tweeted that the Steelers were “close to landing a significant playmaker.”
On Wednesday, we learned just a little bit more about who that player could be.
PM Team co-host Andrew Fillipponi talked to B-Mac privately for a few minutes on the phone and Poni learned that the wide receiver McFadden is referring to is a player on a current roster, meaning to acquire him, it would take a trade.
Poni was told that the player is “significant” but he wouldn’t give a specific player name.
Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio wondered on the PM Team Wednesday if that player B-Mac is talking about is Odell Beckham Jr.
Since he’s a free agent, he wouldn’t be who McFadden is talking about and Poni said that he and B-Mac both agreed that Beckham would be a last resort for the Steelers.
The good news, while we may be impatient, McFadden told Poni he doesn’t believe his report is dead yet.
