Poni: Source says Steelers interested in QB Daniel Jones

Break out the “Ah s***, here we go again” meme, because Poni is hearing the Steelers are interested in another quarterback.

93.7 The Fan’s Andrew Fillipponi says the Steelers are interested in former New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones.

The source tells Poni “[The Steelers] could do a lot worse than Jones.”

The belief is that Jones would be a good fit for offensive coordinator Arthur Smith and “Mike Tomlin’s preference for a mobile quarterback.”

Joe Starkey says that he thinks Jones is not at least as good, and probably better than Justin Fields.

Jones is an unrestricted free agent.

The starting quarterback going into the 2024 season, Jones was benched in mid-November for Tommy DeVito. A week later, Jones was asked to be released, which was granted by the organization.

Shortly after, Jones signed with the Minnesota Vikings practice squad.

He went 2-8 last season with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions.

Since being taken 6th overall in the 2019 draft, Jones is 24-44 with 70 touchdowns and 47 interceptions.

Daniel Jones sounds like the kind of quarterback that can ensure Tomlin’s non-losing streak continues and a first-round playoff blowout.
