Red hot hitter Billy Cook reportedly called up by Pirates

According to a report from MLB.com, outfielder/first baseman Billy Cook is being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis.

MLB.com’s Alex Stumpf says Cook will be joining the Pirates in Detroit on Wednesday.

Cook is coming up for Bryan Reynolds, who left Tuesday night’s game midway through after his wife went into labor.

Cook is batting .271 over 61 games in Indianapolis this season, but in June has been on a tear, hitting near .460, which leads the International League, along with an on-base near .530.

The 26-year-old hit .224 over 16 games with the Pirates last year.

Cook is the Pirates’ 18th best prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
