The Steelers have confirmed that offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner is out in Pittsburgh.
NFL Networks’ Tom Pelissero first reported the story
During his final press conference of the season, head coach Mike Tomlin said that changes were likely coming, but would not go into details on what they were.
Pelissero also reports that offensive line coach Shaun Sarrett and defensive backs coach Tom Bradley are also both out.
With one of the worst running games in the NFL, the Steelers had to rely heavily on the pass.
With team’s knowing the Steelers run game was bad, they were able to focus more on the passing game.
There was a four week stretch where Pittsburgh failed to score 20 points or more in a game.
Fichtner started with Pittsburgh in 2007 as the team’s wide receivers coach until 2010 when he became the quarterbacks coach. After Todd Haley was let go in 2018, Fichtner was promoted to offensive coordinator.
Maybe have speculated the current quarterbacks coach Matt Canada could take over for Fichtner.
