After saying that she didn’t think the Steelers could afford free agent safety Tyrann “Honey Badger” Mathieu, NFL Network’s Aditi Kinkhabwala says that may have changed.

During her weekly “All Access” show with Poni and Mueller, Kinkhabwala believed the Steelers wouldn’t have the money because they are going to lock up safety Minkah Fitzpatrick to a long-term deal.

She expects that deal for Fitzpatrick to be announced sooner than later and that it’s almost done. She adds the deal will likely make him the highest paid safety in the NFL.

Kinkhabwala adds that after saying Honey Badger was a not going to be possible she’s learned some new information.

“I have been told that Honey Badger may not need quite as much money as I was told he needed a week ago,” said Kinkhabwala.

She adds that “the idea of playing for Mike Tomlin is very enticing.”

Free agent Terrell Edmunds is also still a possibility, but that several other teams reportedly have offers on the table for the former Steelers safety.
