The Steelers are reportedly releasing tight end Zach Gentry.

ESPN Steelers reporter Brooke Pryor and Josina Anderson are reporting that Gentry was on the bubble.

It’s a somewhat surprising move for the Steelers, but rookie Darnell Washington has looked good through camp.

Gentry was taken in the fifth-round of the 2019 draft by the Steelers.

Over four years in Pittsburgh, Gentry appeared in 40 games, starting in 26.

He had 39 catches for 303 yards, averaging 7.8 yards a catch and 18 first downs with zero touchdowns.

Gentry was one of the best blocking players for the Steelers.

Gentry signed a new one-year deal this past off season for over $1.2 million with a $152,500 signing bonus.

Washington was taken in the third-round this is past year’s draft.
