According to multiple reports, there is interest from other teams for Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph.
Both NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero are reporting Pittsburgh has gotten calls from teams interested in Rudolph.
These reports come as Steelers General Manager Omar Khan told former Steelers cornerback Bryant McFadden on his “All Things Covered” show that they are happy with the three quarterbacks in their room. Rudolph, Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett.
“I don’t anticipate it will be any different, those three guys are in there, we feel very good about the three quarterbacks, you know, they’re competing,” Khan told McFadden.
“There is a trade market for Mason Rudolph,” said Rapoport. “It remains to be seen whether or not the Steelers will deal him.”
As Aditi Kinkhabwala told The PM Team on Monday, head coach Mike Tomlin likes Rudolph and isn’t going to give him away from nothing. She believes it would take a 4th round pick or better for the Steelers to consider a trade.
She adds it makes sense that there are teams interested in Rudolph’s services, saying he’s better than both of the Detroit Lions backups, Tim Boyle and David Blough.
Pelissero echoed the reports about Rudolph saying the Steelers have “been reluctant to deal him.”
“Rudolph is on the books for just $3 million this season and Pittsburgh isn’t giving him away, even if he's 3rd behind Mitch Trubisky and Kenny Pickett,” added Pelissero.
It appears now that the Steelers are set on keeping Rudolph, unless a pretty good offer comes their way.
Tomlin doesn’t want another situation like in 2019, when Ben Roethlisberger went down for the season, Rudolph deal with a concussion and the Steelers were left with Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
