The Mike Tomlin/Aaron Rodgers love fest continues even days after the Steeler lost to the Packers in Green Bay.
Tomlin said during his weekly press conference when asked to talk about what it means go up against a guy like Rodgers, "It's chess not checkers. If you're a competitor, you love being in that environment, you love pitting your skills and talents and preparedness versus people like those guys, led by a guy like that guy."
Rodgers was on the Pat McAfee show for his weekly visit and reiterated his respect for the Steelers coach.
"I like Mike Tomlin," said Rodgers. "I also liked it, you know he called that timeout, we tried to catch him with 12 on the field, he was kind smirking about it, I like that and I respect that."
Rodgers's appearance last week on the McAfee show fueled speculation about a potential move for Rodgers to Pittsburgh in 2022.
Rodgers says he was simply answering a question.
"I'm just speaking the truth," said Rodgers "They asked me a question about Mike Tomlin, you know I'm going to tell how I feel about Mike Tomlin, you want to take that and run with that and say I'm angling for some sort of next team, I'm not, I'm just answering a question about my respect for Mike and what he's accomplished in the league and same for when I talked about Ben (Roethlisberger)."
McAfee even played a video that "Pittsburgh Dad" made showing him love.
"I've been around Pittsburgh people most of my football career and Alex Van Pelt (former Packers QB coach), also from Pittsburgh, played at Pitt, he got me onto 'Pittsburgh Dad' and we used to watch those videos."
"Pittsburgh would vote you mayor of Pittsburgh right now if you wanted to be the Mayor of Pittsburgh," said McAfee.
The romance between Rodgers and Pittsburgh continues, but it still remains unlikely that we'll see him in black and gold next season.
