Roethlisberger and Harris not optimistic about Steelers future

Two of the players most responsible for helping Mike Tomlin win his Super Bowl ring are not optimistic about the Steelers’ future.

Two-time Super Bowl Champion Ben Roethlisberger tells The Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac that it doesn’t feel like there is a “‘Steelers Way’ anymore”.

“There’s still guys who have it, but it doesn’t feel like it. It frustrates me to watch it happen.”

Roethlisberger adds the team need more than a quarterback to become a serious contender.

For who he would go with, Roethlisberger would first try to sign Russell Wilson for less money. If that doesn’t work out, he would try to sign Justin Fields.

After year after year of making small adjustments, Roethlisberger says his beloved team needs to start making some long-term plans because, “I don’t know that they’re that close, to be honest.”

Linebacker James Harrison says the phrase “The Standard is the Standard” is “just a saying now.”

Harrison made the comments on former Steelers guard Willie Colon’s podcast “Why Willie Why”.

Harrison says that Tomlin has been the head coach for so long that his handprints are all over the organization.

He’s had enough time to get the players he wants and if it isn’t’ working anymore, “That has to all fall on (Tomlin’s) shoulders.”
