Russell Wilson gets 1-year deal with Giants

NFL.com says Aaron Rodgers ‘likely headed to Steelers’

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Options dwindling, Russell Wilson didn’t want to be left without an option withhen the quarterback carousel stopped. Saying all along he preferred to return to the Steelers, the interest apparently wasn’t mutual and Wilson will sign with a one-year deal with the New York Giants.

As reported by the NFL Network, Wilson will get $10.5 million guaranteed for this coming season with incentives that could make the contract worth as much as $21 million. The Giants had recently signed quarterback Jameis Winston to a two-year, $8 million contract also filled with incentives.

As a result, NFL.com reports ‘Aaron Rodgers is likely headed to the Pittsburgh Steelers’.

Wilson spent one year in Pittsburgh after being acquired from the Denver Broncos and paying a veteran-minimum salary. He completed 63.7% of his passes in 2024 for 2,482 yards, 16 touchdowns, five interceptions. He rushed for 155 yards and two touchdowns with five fumbles. The high point was a 414-yard, three-touchdown performance in a 44-38 win at Cincinnati. The low points were the rematch with Cincy (54.8% completion, 148 yards, TD) or at Philadelphia (63.6% completion, 128 yards, TD).

This decision also likely means Pitt All-American Kenny Pickett will be the Browns starting quarterback, at least until the NFL Draft.
