Hopes are, well not high, but there is some hope that Steelers will go out an get a quarterback in free agency that will honestly compete with Kenny Pickett for the starting spot.
In reality, it will probably be Pickett, a QB like Ryan Tannehill and a late-round draft pick who are on the team during Training Camp.
Former Steelers safety and two-time Super Bowl Champion Ryan Clark returned to ESPN’s “Get Up” Wednesday after signing a new deal with the sports giant.
He took time to rip the Steelers for what they’re doing with their quarterbacks.
Clark says the Steelers are going to go and get a QB like Tannehill or Russell Wilson.
“If Kenny Pickett wins that now they can walk into the season and they can say we went out and we tried to improve at the position . . . and Kenny Pickett was a better choice than they were to lead the team this year,” said Clark. “If they do all of that it’s going to be on brand for the Pittsburgh Steelers and it’s going to be dead wrong in this situation because you’re going to strap your team to a quarterback that can’t lead you to the promised land.”
Clark adds the Steelers were built on “excellence” and Pickett doesn’t provide that type of leadership.
