Schefter says Rodgers' decision on Steelers entering 'critical stretch'

No one, except Aaron Rodgers, knows what Aaron Rodgers is thinking but when the biggest insider in the NFL gives an update, you pay attention.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter said Tuesday morning on “The Pod” from the Pat McAfee Show, “I think we are entering the critical stretch for Aaron Rodgers’ final decision about whether or not to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.”

The reason Schefter thinks that is because the Steelers voluntary workouts begin on Monday.

“I would think that he would want to be there, boots on the ground, from day one of the offseason program so that he can be on the field,” added Schefter.

While it isn’t a hard deadline and Rodgers could wait longer, “but if you’re going to be going into a new situation, don’t you want to give yourself the best chance to get acclimated to everybody and everything within your power when the offseason workout program begins?”

“I’m not sure about all that,” said Joe Starkey, responding to Schefter’s comments.

The Pomp and Joe Show host says that he doesn’t’ think offseason workouts have any impact on Rodgers’ decision. “I just don’t know if your Rodgers if that decision has anything to do with ‘I better get there for those first days of OTA so I can through to eight-string receivers.”

However, Starkey says a decision has to be coming soon with the draft happening next weekend.

Schefter also talked to the Unsportsmanlike podcast and speculated that Rodgers could be still waiting for another opportunity with another team, like Minnesota.
