The owner of the Pittsburgh Pirates has released a statement after a fan fell from the Clemente wall during Wednesday night’s game at PNC Park against the Chicago Cubs.
It happened during the seventh inning with Pittsburgh Police, EMS and the Pirates and Cubs medical staffs coming to administer first aid.
The male victim was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in critical condition.
Pittsburgh Police announced Thursday that the incident is being treated as an accident.
Pirates chairman Bob Nutting released the following statement Thursday morning:
“We are all deeply saddened and truly heartbroken after the terrible accident that occurred last night. It was one of the most difficult moments many of us have ever experienced. We are devastated.
Pirates baseball is a community, and our fans are like family. In times like these, we must come together, support one another, and keep him and his loved ones in our prayers.
“We also want to thank and appreciate the efforts of the first responders who rushed to his attention and provided him with compassionate care.”
Any updates to the man’s condition will be provided by AHN medical staff in conjunction with the family.
