PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – For the second straight season, Pirates ace Paul Skenes is taking money out of his pocket every time he strikes a batter out.
The National League Rookie of the Year will donate $100 for every strikeout to support the Gary Sinise Foundation, which supports veterans, first responders and their families. Skenes is encouraging fans to donate as well. He will personally meet-and-greet the fan who raises the most between now and the Bucs home opener on April 4.
“I am very excited to partner again with the Gary Sinise Foundation and help our veterans and first responders during the 2025 season,” said Skenes in a press release. “I have tremendous respect and admiration for the men and women who sacrifice so much to protect and serve our communities. GSF provides an amazing platform to honor and support those who have done so much for me. I look forward to another year of supporting this amazing cause.”
Last season Skenes struck out 170 in 133 innings.
