PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Saying he wanted to be transparent about rumors of him returning to North Carolina to become its head football, Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith admitted he has been contacted.
“The reality is they reached out on a preliminary call. I appreciate it. Love that place, but that’s not my focus. I’ve got one of the best jobs in football right now. There’s a lot to be said to about, you can’t put a price on person and professional happiness, which I have here.”
Smith said it’s how these things start, that searches start by casting a wide net. He said often the narratives around coaching searches get out of control and he was trying to stop it by talking about it on Thanksgiving. He said even though its his alma mater, it’s not something he’s spent of time thinking about
“It’s nice that someone reaches out. I’ve got an awesome job here,” Smith said. “I love it in Pittsburgh. Probably a different mindset that I had four or five years ago, any head job I would have walked there and take it. Now my perspective is different.”
“When you get something good like I got here in Pittsburgh right now. Family loves it here. I like the working environment. Love being a Steeler.”
