PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers sign a middle linebacker with 20 career NFL starts to the practice squad Monday afternoon.
Three years and 49 games with the Atlanta Falcons over the last three seasons, the Steelers added linebacker Mykal Walker to the practice squad releasing linebacker Caleb Johnson. The 6'3", 230-pounder started 12 of 16 games with the Falcons last year with 107 tackles (56 solo), two interceptions, six passes defended, four tackles for loss and a sack.
A fourth-round pick of the Falcons in 2020, Walker was released by Atlanta in mid-August due to an undisclosed soft-tissue injury, signed by the Bears and released on cut-down day and then signed by the Raiders and put on the Las Vegas practice squad.
Walker played in 26 games in two seasons at Fresno State with 6.5 sacks, 22.5 tackles for loss and 182 tackles overall with an interception and 10 passes defended.
