PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers elevated a running back who starred in the preseason the last couple of years while a third-round pick was placed on the injured list Saturday.
With the injury to Rico Dowdle, running back Lew Nichols was elevated to the active roster. Also called up, running back Travis Homer, both from the practice squad.
Steelers also elevated corner Doneiko Slaughter which likely speaks to Joey Porter, Junior not being active for a third straight game as he was limited in practice all week due to conditioning.

Guard Gennings Dunker, a third-round pick from Iowa this year, was placed on the Reserve/Injured List on Saturday after suffering a knee injury this week.
