The reason, “One of our core jobs as a union is to improve the overall working conditions for our players, which includes the daily experience of players at the team facilities away from the lights and cameras.”

Out of the 32 teams, the Steelers come in 22nd.

Here are their grades:

Treatment of families – D- grade, tied for 27th in the league
Food service / nutrition – B+, tied for 8th
Weight room – C, tied for 25th
Strength coaches – A-, tied for 17th
Training room – D-, tied for 27th
Training staff – B+, tied for 22nd
Locker room – D+, tied for 22nd
Team travel – B, tied for 15th

The biggest issues for players is the team’s facilities, “feeling that there is a lack of resources and investment into the facility.”

They also believe the training room and weight room are understaffed.

The Steelers also take a big hit in “Treatment of families” because they do not offer a family room or daycare on gamedays for families.

Less than half of the players believe owner Art Rooney is willing to invest in upgrading the team’s facilities, with 44 percent saying they think he’d be willing to spend money.
