Steelers place CB Cory Trice on IR, makes several other moves

Latest update on Highsmith

The Steelers have taken another injury blow on Tuesday.

Cornerback Cory Trice Jr. is being placed on injured reserve.

That means he’ll miss, at least, the next four games.

Trice left Sunday’s 20-10 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers and didn’t return after a hamstring injury.

During his weekly news conference, Head Coach Mike Tomlin said that Trice would not be playing this Sunday against the Colts.

Now, he’ll miss at least three more weeks.

Trice has one interception, one pass defended and two total tackles so far this season.

Taken in the seventh-round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Trice missed his entire rookie season with a knee injury.

With Trice going on the IR, cornerback James Pierre has been signed off the Steelers practice squad.

Other moves include, offensive tackle Calvin Anderson being signed to the active roster and linebacker Marcus Haynes to the practice squad.

Pierre signed to the practice squad last week and dressed for Sunday’s game against the Chargers. He’s appeared in 67 games (six starts) during his five years in the NFL.

Tight end Matt Sokol was terminated from the team’s practice squad.

According to reports, outside linebacker Alex Highsmith will miss two to three weeks, meaning he won't have to go on the IR.
