The Steelers have announced they've released defensive back Ryan Watts due to injury.
Taken in the 6th-round of the 2024 NFL Draft, Watts suffered a neck injury during the final preseason game last season and was placed on injured reserve shortly after.
Steelers General Manager Omar Khan made the announcement Monday morning.
"After consulting with our medical team, medical experts, and Ryan's representatives, we all agree that is in Ryan's best interest to discontinue playing football at this time," said Khan in a release.
Watts suffered a "significant injury" and had surgery this past offseason.
His future football career is likely in jeopardy.
The 23-year-old played two years at Ohio State before finishing his college career with Texas.
