PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers released a former number one pick while activating a linebacker and wide receiver Saturday afternoon.

Steelers announced safety Terrell Edmunds, who missed practice all week with an illness, was released along with running back Jonathan Ward. Edmunds was signed in September and played in five games with seven tackles. Safety Cam Sutton was just reinstated after NFL suspension and tailback Cordarrelle Patterson returning from injury. There is a chance either could be signed back to the practice squad after the game Sunday.

A couple return from injured reserve in time for the Commanders game—linebacker Tyler Matakevich, who is an impact special teams player and 6’3” receiver Ben Skowronek, who can also play special teams and his skill set has seemed to have caught the eye of head coach Mike Tomlin.
