The Steelers have released the team’s starting center the last two seasons, Mason Cole.

Cole started every game the last two seasons for the Steelers.

The move will save the Steelers a little over $4.7 million.

2024 was the last season on his current contract.

Cole played three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals and one season before the Minnesota Vikings before he signed as a free agent in the 2022 offseason.

Cole was taken in the third round of the 2018 draft by Arizona and was a player identified as one of the leaders of the offense. Cole and running back Najee Harris spent extra time with the pair of offensive coordinators to try and help fix problems.

The Steelers now need a starting center. They have two other starting offensive linemen heading into the final season of their contracts-right guard James Daniels and left tackle Dan Moore, Junior.

While Cole was serviceable, the team hasn’t had a reliable center since Maurkice Pouncey was in in prime.
