Steelers reportedly hire WR coach, interviewing for other positions

New Steelers coach Mike McCarthy isn’t wasting any time building his coaching staff.

According to reports, the Steelers are hiring Adam Henry as their new receivers’ coach.

NFL Network’s Cameron Wolfe reported it first.

The former wide receiver for the Saints started as a coach at McNeese State in the late 90s before moving on to the NFL with the Raiders in 2007.

He was hired by McCarthy in 2020, where he spent two seasons as the Cowboys wide receivers coach.

Wolfe spent the past three seasons hold the same position with the Bills.

According to other reports, the Steelers have also requested interviews with coaches for several positions.

Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot reports Browns special team coordinator Bubba Ventrone has been requested by the Steelers for an interview for their vacant special team’s coaching position.

The Rams have also reportedly requested Ventrone.

Ventrone is a Pittsburgh native and graduate of Chartiers Valley

93.7 The Fan Steelers Insider, and contributor to the Pat McAfee Show, Mark Kaboly first to report the Steelers are interviewing Washington defensive pass-game coordinator Jason Simmons for their open defensive coordinator position.

Simmons was a secondary coach for McCarthy in the later part of his tenure at Green Bay.

Simmons was taken in the 5th round of the 1998 draft by the Steelers and appeared in 49 games for the Steelers over four seasons at safety.

And, if you’re looking at a coach that could become available soon, NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports Browns defensive coordinator was “visibly upset, said goodbyes in the building and told other coaches he’s not coming back” after being told the Browns were hiring Todd Monken as their head coach.

“Schwartz is under contract and Cleveland wants to retain him. But his future is now unclear.”

Despite their record, the Browns has consistently had a good defense over the past several seasons.
