Steelers rookies get their number as minicamp starts

No, that’s not Charlie Batch, it’s Drew Allar!

The Steelers have announced the jersey numbers the rookies will wear this weekend when they take the field for rookie minicamp.

Third-round pick Drew Allar will wear #16, most recently made popular by longtime Steelers backup QB Charlie Batch.

First-round draft pick Max Iheacachor will wear #71. That announcement was made after he was drafted in Pittsburgh.

Second-round WR Germie Bernard, drafted out of Alabama will wear #17.

Third-round pick, cornerback Daylen Everette from Georgia, will wear #23.

Safety Robert Spears-Jennings out of Oklahoma will wear #28.

Running back/wide receiver Eli Heidenreich, out of Navy and Mt. Lebanon, taken in the seventh-round will wear #29.

Fifth-round fullback out of Indiana, Riley Nowakowski is #37.

Fourth-round wide receiver Kaden Wetjen out of Iowa will wear #42.

Iowa guard Gennings Dunker, also out of Iowa, will wear #73 and sixth-round pick, defensive end Gabriel Rubio, out of Notre Dame will wear #96.

The rookies reported to Steelers headquarters on Thursday and will get their first real work in, in front of new head coach Mike McCarthy.
