After officially announcing the trade of cornerback Joey Porter Jr. to the Dallas Cowboys for a 2028 second-round pick and a 2027 sixth-round pick, the Steelers announced a few roster moves.
The Steelers announced that they’ve signed cornerback Doneiko Slaughter to the active roster from the practice squad.
Slaughter was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Jacksonville Jaguars after the 2025 draft but waived during final roster cuts.
The 24-year-old out of Tennessee and Arkansas signed after last season with the Steelers to a reserve/futures contract and was waived before the start of the season before he was added to the practice squad.
Also, running back Lew Nichols was elevated from the practice squad to the Active/Inactive roster.
Slaughter will wear #40, Nichols will wear #31.
