The Steelers have announced the signing of Robert Spillane.
The inside linebacker signed a one-year restricted free agent tender on Friday.
Spillane will reportedly make $2.4 million in 2022.
The Steelers offered a right-of-first refusal tender last month that means the Steelers had the rights to match if another contract was offered to Spillane, but no draft compensation would’ve come to the tender.
Spillane started in four games for the Steelers last season, playing in 14 total games. He had 45 tackles along with 11 on special teams.
In 2020, Spillane filled in for Devin Bush after his knee injury before he went on the Reserve/Injured list himself that season.
The Steelers are hoping from improved play from their inside linebackers in 2022, particularly Bush, and with head coach Mike Tomlin adding Brian Flores, there are hopes he can get something out of linebackers.
