PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Tight ends Eric Ebron (elbow) and Pat Freiermuth (shoulder) returned to full practice in spiders (not full pads) and helmets Saturday at Heinz Field. Kalen Ballage, who scored a touchdown Thursday, did stretch with the team, but did not go through drills with a lower body injury. Tailback Benny Snell, out for an unknown reason, joined the team for the first time in six days but did not practice spending much of the afternoon riding a stationary bike.
James Washington
ESPN reported Washington has requested a trade due to lack of playing time. Now in his fourth year, Washington caught 30 passes last year on 56 targets for 392 yards and five touchdowns. Mike Tomlin called them unnamed sources and says Washington hasn’t said anything to him.
Tackles back with first team
Thursday night for the preseason opener, Dan Moore, Junior and Joe Haeg were the starting tackles. Saturday at practice, Chukwuma Okorafor (left) and Zach Banner (right) were with the first team with Trai Turner and Rashaad Coward at guard and Kendrick Green at center.
Green took all of the reps with Ben Roethlisberger.
Seven Shots
-Ben Roethlisberger was 1 for 3 with a beautiful throw over Joe Haden as Chase Claypool comes down with it in the corner of the end zone. -Mason Rudolph 2 for 2, hit college teammate James Washington on a fade over Justin Layne as the offensive teammates celebrated for Washington. Rudolph a pass in the center of the end zone to Pat Freiermuth
-Dwayne Haskins 1 for 2, A high pass to Eric Ebron that he couldn’t hold onto in the back of the end zone. Then a completed pass in the flat to RB Tony Brooks-James, signed on Tuesday.
Other notes
