The Steelers search for their next General Manger continues with a few second-round interviews this week.
The NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that former Bills GM Doug Whaley will talk to the Steelers again later this week.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Vice President John Spytek and Tennessee Titans Vice President Ryan Cowden will also get second interviews this week.
Whaley is current Senior Vice President of Player Personnel for the third version of the XFL debuting next year and is also a weekly guest on The Fan Morning Show.
A Pittsburgh native, Whaley was a member of the Steelers front office before leaving to become the Bills' general manager.
Spytek is currently the VP of Player Personnel for the Bucs and has been in the NFL for 18 seasons. He has also worked with the Broncos and Browns.
Cowden has been the VP of Player Personnel for the Titans since 2018.
Both Spytek and Cowden oversee college and pro scouting for their respective teams.
Internally, two strong candidates for the Steelers GM are already in place.
Omar Khan, Pittsburgh's Vice President of Football & Business Administration, as well as Pro Scouting Coordinator Brandon Hunt are considered front-runners to take over after Colbert leaves.
Some have speculated that GM duties could be split between Khan and Hunt.
While Khan and Hunt are considered front-running, Steelers owner Art Rooney II is taking the open General Manager position very seriously and making sure they hire the best candidate moving forward.
