According to a report, the Steelers have signed their next punter after they released Pressley Harvin III.
According to NFL and Texans writer Aaron Wilson of KPRC in Houston, the Steelers are signing punter Cameron Johnston.
Johnston averages 47.3 yards per punt over his six-year career, three with Philadelphia and the last three with Houston.
He set a Texans record last season with a 74-yard-punt. He was 6th in the NFL in net yards last season.
Johnston signed a three-year deal, worth $8 million with the Texans in 2021 and was going into the 2024 offseason as an unrestricted free agent.
Harvin averaged 43.7 yards per punt and was 32nd in net yards.
The Steelers drafted Harvin in the 7th round of the 2021 draft, 254 overall.
With Russell Wilson getting paid only $1.2 million, the Steelers next punter will probably make more than the possible starting quarter back.
