According to a report, the Steelers would “pounce” on signing current Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield if Cleveland cuts him.

Browns insider Mary Kay Cabot said on an appearance on the “Orange and Brown Talk” podcast that not many teams have contacted the Browns for a trade for Mayfield.

If cut, Cabot says the Steelers would be very interested in grabbing up Mayfield.

According to Sports Illustrated ’s Albert Breer, the Browns want a first-round pick. Compare that to the San Francisco 49ers reportedly wanting two second-round picks for Jimmy Garoppolo.

Cabot adds that at this point, the Browns have to hope that a team is desperate for a starting quarterback.

Cabot says the Colts was where Mayfield really wanted to go but they just signed Matt Ryan.

Mayfield, who spend a large amount of last season injured, went 6-8 with 17 touchdowns, 13 interceptions with a passer rating of 83.1.

While the Steelers have signed Mitch Trubisky, they don’t have an official starter and Steeler general manager Kevin Colbert has said they plan to go into camp with four quarterbacks.

The other two current QBs signed are Mason Rudolph and Dwayne Haskins.
