The Pirates have a few rivals, especially teams in the National League Central Division, but you wouldn’t suspect a Minor League team to be throwing shade at the Bucs.

But that’s exactly what the Triple-A affiliate of the Durham Bulls has been doing on social media.

The Bulls took a few shots during the season and the collection was captured by the Pittsburgh Clothing Company.

In one tweet, the Bulls point out that they have hit 26 home runs in 12 games while it took the Pirates 40 games to reach that mark.

They also took the opportunity to rub in former Pirates prospect pitcher Shane Baz making his debut for the Rays last month.

Baz was the third player who went to Tampa, along with pitcher Tyler Glasnow and outfielder Austin Meadows in the disastrous trade that brought pitcher Chris Archer to Pittsburgh.

After the Rays were eliminated from the playoffs by the Boston Red Sox on Monday, a Pirates fan took to Twitter posting a photo of former President Bill Clinton with the phrase “enjoy the projects.”

Durham’s Twitter apparently didn’t like that comment coming back with “Enjoy 61-101” (the Pirates record this season.)

Another user responded to that saying “the series hasn’t been over for 30 mins. You’re seething LMAO.”

The Bulls took one last shot after that.

Twitter is a weird place, a place that we didn’t know there was a Pirates/Bulls rivalry until now.
