These hypothetical trade proposals for Paul Skenes don't come close

The Pirates have a lot of players that could be dealt before the MLB trade deadline at the end of the month.

One of those players who will definitely not be traded is Paul Skenes.

Even so, ESPN proposed possible returns for the Pirates if they were to deal Skenes.

David Schoenfield came up with hypothetical proposals from the Mets, Dodgers and Tigers.

The PM Team’s Andrew Fillipponi and Chris Mueller looked at each proposal.

Mets: #20 prospect Jett Williams “He’s not having a good year at Double-A,” said Poni. Pitching prospect (#50 overall ) Jonah Tong, pitcher Nolan McLean not in the top 100 prospects but having a good year, infielder Ronny Mauricio, who doesn’t play every day and outfielder Carson Benge.

Dodgers: Catcher/outfielder Dalton Rushing #14 prospect in baseball, outfielder Josue De Paula #17 prospect, infielder Alex Freeland and pitchers Emmet Sheehan and Jackson Ferris.

Tigers: Outfielder Max Clark, the #8 prospect in baseball, infielder Kevin McGonigle #11 overall and Colt Keith, pitchers Jackson Jobe and Sawyer Gipson-Long.

Andrew Fillipponi says all three are bad proposals.

“If you’re gonna trade the best pitching phenom of all time, you can’t get back four or five guys you’re never heard of,” said Poni.

If the Pirates were going to trade for Skenes, they would need to get players already established, young and have the ability to get better in the years become.
