Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin is “optimistic” that edge rusher T.J. Watt will return for the Steelers final and division-deciding game on Sunday night.
Speaking during his weekly news conference on Tuesday, Tomlin said Watt will be “worked up” throughout practice this week and added, “I’m more optimistic this week then I have been in previous weeks as we stand here today.”
Tomlin also said he is open to using Watt "situationally" if he isn't 100 percent.
Tomlin did have some bad news, tight end Darnell Washington, who suffered a broken arm on Sunday is out.
Washington underwent surgery on his arm Tuesday morning.
Other players that would return include wide receiver Calvin Austin, cornerbacks Brandin Echols and James Pierre and linebacker Malik Harrison.
Steelers guard Isaac Seumalo, who missed Sunday’s game with a triceps injury, could also return against the Ravens.
As he always says, Tomlin will let how the week plays out in practice in deciding who is able to play on Sunday.
