Tomlin slams Browns decision to trade Flacco to Bengals

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin didn’t hold back on Monday during his weekly news conference on how he feels about the Browns trading quarterback Joe Flacco to the Cincinnati Bengals.

“to be honest, it was shocking to me,” said Tomlin. “(Browns General Manager) Andrew Berry must be a lot smarter than me or us, because it doesn’t make sense to me to trade a quarterback that you think enough of to make your opening day starter to a division opponent that’s hurting in that area.”

It was a side of Mike Tomlin that the public rarely sees.

He normally has calculated, “coach speak” and has admitted to the media in the past that he lies to them.

The Steelers beat the Browns on Sunday 23-9 and now have a quick turn-around and play the Bengals in Cincinnati Thursday night.

Tomlin ended his news conference with “you guys were annoying me today”, directed at the media.

“That was my favorite version of Mike Tomlin,” said Starkey. “That was direct, edgy, off-the-cuff, insightful.”
