Watt a finalist for DPOY, will miss Pro Bowl due to injury

Steelers linebacker T.J. Watt is, once again, a finalist for the AP Defensive Player of the Year award.

Watt is a finalist along with Eagles LB Zach Baun, Bengals DE Trey Hendrickson, Broncos CBS Pat Surtain II and last year’s winner, Browns DE Myles Garrett.

Watt, who won the award 2021, is a +900 to win after being considered a favorite earlier in the season. His lack of production the last five games of the year hurt his chances.

Surtain is the betting favorite to win at -588.

It was also announced Thursday that Watt will miss the Pro Bowl Games due to injury. He will be replaced with Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy.

Watt injured his ankle during the Week 15 loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia.

Watt didn’t miss a game the rest of the season but didn’t produce a sack the rest of the year or in the Wild Card loss to Baltimore.
