Watt says he was checked, didn't have concussion during Pats game

Steelers OLB says he was cleared to return to game

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Steelers defensive captain TJ Watt confirmed he was checked for a concussion during the game last Thursday and was cleared to go back into the game. What he said about his health and the visor before playing the Colts.

Watt was cleared from the concussion protocol on Wednesday night after entering on Saturday and says he feels good to play this Saturday in Indianapolis.

As for why he came back in with a dark visor?

"I'm not really going to get into specifics," Watt said Thursday. "I've worn a visor pregame. I've worn a visor in practice. It's not something that is new for me. I will leave it at that."

As for being seen with smelling salts, Watt said it's funny how you can get caught on camera with some things that aren't caught on camera other times. He said he wasn't getting in specifics or a debate, that his focus is on the Colts.

The NFL is still actively looking into the situation to see if the Steelers and doctors took all of the necessary steps needed to make sure the Steelers All-Pro linebacker didn't play with a concussion. Watt said he is oblivious to what is being said about it on the outside.

"I don't hear the scrutiny, so I don't know," Watt said. "We went through all of the steps possible and feel like we did things the right way."
